MRco 'Slot' mechanical indicator And now for something completely different! This may not look much but these old mechanical indicators are very rare. "You don't say LineMan. I wonder if they are rare because 95% of them have been chucked!" Very funny Charlie. Where did you last see one? These old Mechanical indicators started to become a rare breed when all those slotted signals got junked. To find one still in use just does not happen now. This one retains it's ON/OFF plate and part rod. It is cast into the front "SIGNAL UP DPR L SLOT". "What does DPR line mean?" I don't know Charlie. Perhaps some young lad will tell us 'after' we've sold it! "I bet it's a joint line somewhere"..................... |

Tyers Coop Permissive block instrument This is nice Ernie. Where did this come from? "I'm afraid it is here by mistake LineMan. It should have been sent to the LYR or GCR section of the Multi-joint lines". Well it's here now. The wood work is in lovely condition. All mechanical and electrical parts all present. The dial is flaking a bit but no too bad. "These were very expensive new LineMan. All 'Tyers' blocks are expensive but the best". You're right about that Ernie. Someone will want it. It's hardly been used................. |

LNER 'Black Box' standard Block Instrument Here we go Charlie. Something for you. An LNER 'Black Box' Block Instrument.. "Oh thanks LineMan. Just what I need to remind me of my Army days as a Private". What Charlie? What's the Army got to do with this? "I rather not say LineMan. It's just the way it is. Straight up, straight down, no frills type of block". Have you looked inside yet Charlie? "I have checked over the block lineMan. All is well. Although it's the only block that looks better with it's top off than on." Hah. That's true! Mind you, it is a good example of this unusual and unique block instrument......Why the Railway painted them black remains a well kept secret ! |

Tyers F type Block Instrument The Duchy of Cornwall will be pleased with you Jim. Another, 'One and All' Block from Scotland......"I know LineMan. I'm thinking of ringing the Dutches up then ringing this bell..." If you do that Jim we'll all be in the Tower of London with no tea to drink... "I can't believe they would do such a thing. Just look at this second F type block from Scotland. I expect from the same area as our other 'Shotts' block". Jim. If they tried to murder Mary Queen of Scots for just being Scottish what chance have we got? "Hmm. You're right lineMan. If we are caught with these Scottish blocks we'll be done for..." All for one Jim, let's sell them off as redundant material. The block is absolutely fine except for the top beading where the last lineman fitted the box plate. Both make a fine pair.............. |

Tyers F type Block Instrument 'Shotts Stn' Alright then who's the funny one? "What do you mean LineMan? " I mean what are these things... "Oh dear friend. These instruments are from the Scottish Highlands. They are 'all in one' jobs". Oh are they Jim? I suppose Reading sent them here because the Cornish motto is 'One and All'? "Well you could say that Boss. This one still has it's location plate attached "Shotts Station". And is it OK Jim? "Oh absolutely ok LineMan. Look inside. Complete with bell, contacts and cancel button still fitted. Absolutely right as it could every be". Alright Jim, we'll keep it here in case we need to fit a 'One and All' Block.............. |

LMS Distant Signal Repeater Well Ernie. Put this with the Home Repeater. They are nearly a matching pair. "Probably out of the same box. This example is an excellent specimen as well LineMan. It's in lovely condition". Someone will be pleased with these Ernie. It's best to pay a little more and get top notch gear...... |
|
 |
 |
LMS Home Signal Repeater "Do we have to stock these LMS repeaters LineMan. We'll never use them in a Cornish MJLC Box". I think you're right Ernie. We ought to sell them on to someone who will take good care of them. "They are in excellent condition LineMan. The whole instrument is excellent with no damage to the case or coil or anything. A really good example I must say". Put them on the LMS redundant shelf Ernie. Someone will be pleased if they buy these... |

GWR ETS Block Bell "This is more like it LineMan MORE LIKE IT!!!" Alright Jim. No need to get excited. It's only a ETS (Electric train staff) block bell... "Oh yes it is LineMan. This is an ETS Block Bell. It's always been an ETS block bell and it always will be an ETS Block Bell". So what's the big deal Jim? "Original ETS block bells are rare because most you see in boxes today are converted tapper bells. You can tell by looking at the front and noticing the wood filled in the place where the tapper once was. This example is a real beauty!" How interesting Jim. Is that all? "No LineMan. Just look inside. The coil is original with an old style hammer too. Apart from the thumb screw terminals being removed, this bell is a real jem". I suppose you're right Jim. The Side screws match and are the very old 1880 style too. Oh, there is GWR stamped into the front with a number...."I think it would look nice down at Nancegollan Box". You can put there if you want Jim. Too many people 'dancing' about there for my liking..."Oh stop laughing Ernie"..................... |

GWR Single Spag "UP LINE" Well then Charlie! Look what I've brought you from St Blazey hide-a-way Stores! "Oh LineMan. It's no good to me that there single Spag. You'd better give it to Jim Hendra for Redruth Junction or Dolcolth". Oh thanks a bunch Charlie. You're always moaning about not having enough spares. I'll just look in side. "Not much to see LineMan, but I must say it is a splendid example. It's nice to see the front plate has not been modified to show up and down line. The case is excellent too. Hmm LineMan. You may be right. We'd better keep this here rather than send it to Camborne. No chance Charlie. You've had your chance............... |

Drilled and ready for your wall this has no rear bracket attached. This has been cast from the original pattern once owned by 'Western Restorations'. Western Restorations remade some of the magnificent WR head boards about 20 years ago. Is it a repro? or a younger brother of the ones carried by these amazing expresses. Paintwork is excellent.
